As it was founded as a direct result of the ACS (<A HREF="http://www.infoplease.com/ce6/history/A0803668.html" REL="nofollow">American Colonization Society</A>), though, its colonial status was explicit.<BR/><BR/>Granted, the circumstance behind its formation are peculiar and unique for an African nation, but the fact that its colonial stage only lasted some twenty-five years doesn't make it <B>not</B> a colony.
